ontmaskerde stad: Robson & Anjalendran
Tuesday 25 september
Unmasked City. An evening with David Robson & Chelvadurai Anjalendran
David Robson will speak about the ingenious architectural works of Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, that he published extensively. He will examine Bawas influence on the countries modern architecture and explain how a multicultural background and European education resulted in a phenomenal mixture of characteristic local elements and puristic avant garde structure, covered by lush tropical flora.
Chelvadurai Anjalendran being a close colleague of the late Geoffey Bawa, his architecture shares a number of similar values. Being inventive in a tropical climate, fulfilling the needs of such small scale institutions like the SOS children villages, always being compared with your famous predecessor, is not an easy task. Even in private houses for the more fortunate one needs a bright mind. He will show of his brilliance in that field.
